With Rad Cap Off Coolant Shoots Out!?
My coolant disappears in freeway driving. Never at an idle.
Sometimes i can go 20 miles before its gone, sometimes 2. No rhyme or reason to it.
I also noticed that with my radiator cap off, coolant comes shooting out of the radiator.
Someone tell me wtf is going on. ;-)
I have my heater hose disconnected, and a hose that goes straight from the intake to the top port on the radiator.
I thought it was the radiator, so i had to flow tested etc and it's fine.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

shoots out, is there a pattern to it and with the radiator cap on and full when you drive down the road, and it disappears but you can't find an external leak, it may be going internal, mean a cracked head or something, PULL your dip stick and see if the oil level is higher then normal, if it is it tells you water is leaking into the crank case.

Maybe it was a cracked head, i am replacing the entire engine with a 500hp 383 stroker... just hoping i dont have the same probs.
And to the guy who posted first.. I could have the engine totally cold, take the radiator cap off, and start it. Coolant would start overflowing immediately.
I might want a higher flow water pump with the new engine anyway..plus mine looks all rusted

well what I would do is fill up the radiator, cap it and don't open it again. NOW just watch and add fluid to the catch tank, if after about 10 heat ups and cool downs your still adding water and you can't find an external leak then it's going internal. If your losing it faster then that well? Check the dip stick and also check really had for external leaks, check weap hole on transmission clutch cover , this will show you if the freeze plugs in the back are leaking or not.
if it is bubbling a lot and never seems to settle down when it is running then you have atleast a blown head gskt maybe head/block the longer you drive it like this the worse it will get it is being burnt in the combustion chamber,
