better air for Firebirds with tpi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have found a way to create better air flow for the firebirds with tpi. and to get rid of those twisted compacted ugly a$$ air boxes.

this is what you need..

an IROC split box air cleaner... you know where the box splits to go around the hood latch,

anyway.....all you need is that box and a little intuition and access to some cutting wheels (makes job alot cleaner and faster)

and your ready to go.

next....this will not work for keeping a stock hood... since the camaros are alot stockier in the front, they can have an airbox go over the radiator and still close.
but since the firebirds slope downward, you will have to buy a cowl induction hood, or whatever you want to have this fit.

some may think this is a little pricy for a simple air upgrade, but if you already have one you are way ahead of the game.

Finally you are ready for the finishing touch.......................

since firebirds SUCK for air circualation due to no grill
i figured a way to open up alot of air with a small mod.

cut out the flat part where th license plate cover is and buy one of those MINI license plate covers ,they sell with new cars today, and make the correct adjustments to fit the contors of the pointy front end.............................

let me know what you think

Sounds good but I just made a CAI for mine that has the cone filter going to the fender where it picks up cold air. I used a 90* 3in rubber connector, 3in exhaust tubing, the stock 45* MAF with the cone filter attached to it going into the fender. I had to move the vacuum cannister to have the filter where it is. This cost me $42 and 1 hour. Now I am trying to make a metal seperator to seperate the filter from the engine air.

87GTA383: sound like a good Idea if you dont have the stock hood. I was thinking of buildning similar setup but now I have procharger and I have to come up with a new idea to fee it with cold air.....
