fan stays on when started cold?
Hey guys I got a ??? about fans & there relays? If I start my car the fan will turn on right away even if it cold.I've tried to replace the relay the one next to the battery & fan,but it didn't seem to do anything.I was wondering if there were numerious relays & or fuses that control the fan.Any help or suggestions would be helpful. It's an 86 iroc w/single fan w/350tpi.While i'm at it I rigged up a switch for the time being & disconnected the relay just till I figure this thing out.
have you tried switching to a stock prom? i had a couple proms around here and an 86 vette prom in my 89 made the fans come on right away and locked the tq converter in 2nd gear. with a proper 89 prom i dont have that problem.
otherwise something is grounded, maybe the fan switch went bad.

no I actually sold my stock prom
I wish I kept it though.I wasn't sure if there were numerious relays or anything else I could check. This happens to be a real pain in the A**.Thanks for the advise though. At least I have a toggle for the time being.

i had the same problem on my car, the passengers fan would stay on all the time when the car was turned on, i went through my electronics for the dual fan setup and found out that the fanswitch (in the passengers side block 6/8 cyclinders) was burnt up and grounded itself so it ground the relay and thus the fan was turned on...
i put a new fanswitch and a new connector in and all is well..
