Radiator 2or3 row?
I'm sure we've all seen these two types of radiators. The factory rad. in my 92 305 was a 3 row. When I went to the parts store I had a hard time finding a 3 row. Well I put in the 2 row and my engine ran at least 15-20 degrees hotter than before. I had to put a 165 stat on to keep it cool. Has any one else had this problem. I didnt want to replace a new radiator over this if I dont have too. I see 3 row rad. on ebay all day. Any ideas?
So how hot was the car running with the 2 row radiator. If the 305 is a fuel injected car it does not need the 165 stat. The car will be down on performance and use more fuel. Most fuel injected car operating temp is around 200-210. The coolest stat I would run in a Fuel injected car would be 180.
OK, so I have a 1982 4BBL Q-Jet 305 and I just bought a 3-row radiator this morning for $135 new... (Radiator Doctor, ships nation-wide for $9... 1-888-252-0333, if anyone is wondering) and I am wondering what degree thermostat I should put in, because I'm switching out my new radiator, I may as well get a thermostat... Any ideas? If none, I'll go with a 165...
