Restrictive Thermostat

I pulled my old stat out of my Z28 today. It was a 160* stat that had been put in by a local shop. I was in the middle of a cam swap and I hurt my back. They thought it was a good idea to slap it in there.

I'd just forgotten about it really, until it wasn't warming up enough now that it is cooler outside.

So I bought a Mr. Gasket Hi Flow 185* stat. Pulled the old one, and man, the opening in the old stat was about the size of a penny, nickel at the most! What a terrible design! It explains a few things huh?

Before, if the car ever got above say 190, it wouldn't cool down unless you shut it down for a while or got on the freeway.

Now no problem. Much better.
