Intake coolant leak?
I believe that my intake on my 89 Firebird Formula 350 TPI but i am wanting others oppinion about it. I noticed where the intake seals up to the block that there was some coolant there and then noticed right at the front some foaming coming from about half and inch back from the front on the passenger side. Does this sound like the intake or the head leaking and there is no oil in the coolant and no coolant in the oil. Also I was thinking about a temporary solution for now was to put some gasket sealer where it leaks and let it harden to seal it up. One last thing, does anybody know how long it takes to take the intake off and replace the gaskets. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's real common for a leak to develop there. Don't mess around with it. If it develops a leak toward the lifter valley in the engine you'll have coolant in the oil and the potential for all sorts of problems. Tuned port is a pain to do, nothing fancy just lot's of monkey work. You will need the gaskets for the intake
and also the set for the intake runner and plenum. Follow torque sequence and torque settings to the letter when dealing with aluminum. Allow time to clean the old gasket material to make sure the mating surfaces are totally clean. With the right tools and materials figure about 4-5 hours to do it right. You DON'T want to do it twice(like me) because of getting your back against the wall time wise. LOL, Dan
