Fan switch/temp gage

Heya all. I was working on my car and ripped the wire out of my old fan switch. So I go to autozone and replace it. I put it in and now my temperature gage doesn't work and my fan won't come on unless I turn on the AC unit. Any suggestions?

The guage sender wire is probably off. It is located on the DRIVER side between cyls 1&3. It has a single wire going to it. It has been known to get knocked off when changing plugs etc. Fan sw should have been on the passenger side bet cyls 6&8. It also is a single wire. Sometimes loading the threads with teflon tape will prevent the fitting from getting ground from the block.
