I was out cruising, and my car started running really hot. I blew the vents and the temp returned to normal, so I stopped the vents, and eventually, the temp. shot back up. I turned off my car to see what it was. Proper coolant level, no leaks. I then turned on my electricity. I had my fans hooked up to always be on. However, they are now not working. I don't know why or how to remedy this problem, so if you can help, that would be cool Thank you.

Basic electrical troubleshooting.

1st get a multimeter, or something that reads DC current and wltage.

Next, check that fuses arent blown.
If those are good, check for power at the fans. If you have power then the motors are fried, if not, move on to the relay(s). Those are 2 seperate circuits. One, is the relay coil, the other is the contact coil. The contacts should always have 12V, the coil should only have power when whatever switch your using is closed. If you have power and the contacts arent made then the relay is bad. make sure the contact side of the relay has 12V on one side.

Now if the fuses are blown, then you have a short in the line. Get a cntinuity tester(should be on the multimeter) and start checking wires to ground. If one shows continuity(besides your ground wire) then you have a short to find.

This should get you started, its usually a pretty simple find.

Both failing at the same time indicates you probably lost the fusible link that feeds the contact side of the relays. It is a common fuse link for BOTH fans. First fix your problem, then wire back the fans the way they are supposed to be. There is no reason to have them running all the time.
