AIRDAM... quick question

I have an '87 IROC-Z w/o an airdam at the present moment in time.

I have done numerous searches and have found P/N "10017673" as the correct P/N for the lower "scoop" airdam. Is that correct? I've also seen "14083929". Which one?

Also, I've seen posts on an upper airdam. I'm unsure what this is. Can anyone explain it to me or explain where it is? Anyone have a picture of this so I can see if my IROC has it?

Thanks in advance.

See no one has jumped in so I thought I would. The reason for the two different part numbers is that the airdamn was a one piece unit that went all the way across. In '89, GM redesigned it to the 3 piece unit which is apparently a better design. Not to mention the early one piece (82-84) is a little different that the later one piece.

The three piece design has been all over EBAY for the past year it seems, I bought one of these 3 piece units. Haven't put it on since my one piece is doing fine in the TX heat. The instruction sheet shows 10118552 or 10118551, and none of these is a good number. Just look for the 3 piece design number.

The 3 piece "air dam" isn't really an air dam, it's a set of baffles that go inside of the nose to help push air up into the intake duct, and to keep gunk from doing the same.

The P/N for the lower deflector that goes on the bottom of the radiator (the real "air dam") is 14083929. I know because I've ordered 3 in the last year and I have the order in my hand

Word of advice- make sure you get SNUG fitting bolts, and use the BIGGEST washers that will fit in the area around the bolt holes. Not using washers cost me the first two deflectors
