car Getting Too Hot NEED HELP ASAP

1991 5.0 TBI RS

Ok in about January this year the fan stopped operating in my car. It was not a big deal- I just spliced the wires behind the fan and hooked up a manual switch so I can turn it on or off as needed. Last month the orginal radiator died on me so I was without a car for about 1 month (I was doing other things as well) While I was fixing the car I replaced the coolent temp sensor on the drivers side by the exhaust manifolds. This still didn't fix the problem. Now just last week the temp guage doesn't work. I can drive around town for 15-20 mins and shut the car off and I'll be stuck at the gas station for 30 min. The car gets too hot. So I went and bought a replacement fan relay. I don't know wich one to replace. I tried unhooking both of them (on firewall) and seeing if that made a difference still nothing. I can't figure out what the problem is! Can I just go buy a adjustible temp switch and hook that up to the fan and say screw the factory crap? I'm sick of either having the car on all the time or not being able to go anywhere.

The Coolant Temperature Sensor is located in Front of the thermostat housing on top of the Intake Manifold.

The Temperature Gauge Sensor is on the driver side head near the #1 plug.

The Fan Relay is the one on the left as you're looking from the front of the vehicle.

The fan probably stopped working because the Fan Switch failed. It's located on the passenger side head under the exhaust manifolds inbetween the #6 and #8 plugs.
