over heating after motor is off
ok here is what hapen my my motor. one day 2 weeks ago i drove my car to elk grove village in IL witch is about an hour drive form where i am anys ways i had the fun running the hole time i was drveing home (elec.) and when i got home i when to turn it off so it wouldn't run all night and kill the battory and i guess i turned the **** to much and the fan never kicked back on and the nex moring when i want to start it up it was buring anti-frezze. i changed the oil and there was anti-frezze in it. i haven't drove the car since and i'm waitting for the guy that works on my car to get done with the cobra so we can get my car in there. anyways it wasn't smokeing when i drove it home or when i turened it off. so i'm guessing it over heated over night...
i don't know if its a warped head, cracked head or a cracked block.... anyone have any idea's?
i think its a cracked head myself

Definately burning coolant.
Possible causes:
- Head Gasket Failure
- Intake Manifold Gasket Failure (cant remember 100% if SBC have that prob)
- Cracked head
- Cracked block
I would start first off by removing the heads and look for head gasket failure. If that turns out to be ok, then look for cracks on the head itself. If all else fails, check the block. If you have the ability to, turn the engine over a little bit to get a good look at as much cylinder wall as you can. Sometimes you can tell really easy because there will be a big puddle of coolant in a cylinder. Thats assuming of course that you drain your cooling system prior to head removal.
I had a Beretta GT w/3.1 V6 once that was overheating REALLY bad and finally started blowing white smoke.
I took the heads off, good gaskets. Had the heads checked, they were warped a tiny bit, but still sealed good. I checked the block and sure enough, the #5 cylinder had a huge crack in it.
Best of luck,

That's what I figured. If you have anifreeze in your oil, get it out ASAP! You'll corrode bearings and then you'll be in a world of hurt! Just be glad that it was a head gasket and not a cracked block. Also, go ahead and replace BOTH head gaskets. I'm sure you thought of that already. Good luck! Matt
