Changing Coolant???

I want to do a coolant flush on my car and would like to know the proper procedures in doing this. Also are there any breathers to worry about???

There are a couple of ways. Prestone has a kit where you insert a fitting into one of the heater hoses that has and adapter to insert a garden hose. They run about $7 at an auto store. You can also use a chemical flush which I prefer. Simply follow instructions. The only thing you need to do is when refilling after flushing is to leave the rad cap off with the engine running and top off the rad then slowly bring the rpm's up and down to release any trapped air in the system(bleeding). It's pretty straightforeward. I would change the rad cap and t-stat whenever you change coolant and inspect the heater and rad hoses. It's a good time to spend a few bucks for the peace of mind. Hoses should be changed every 4 yrs, stat and cap every 2.
