Tan/White Wire

Hello all,
I have a question: Why doe one side of the fan relay coil wire (tan/white) go directly to the voltage requlator on the ALT.? Shouldn't it be going directly to positive side of the battery? I dont understand why GM would do this. Any comments and suggestions are always apprecited.

Thats the power wire to the alt's exciter circuit. In GM's oh so wonderful freaking design, they used the fan circuit to power it.

Basically what it does is powers the exciter saying, hey, you got 12 + volts now charge. lol
