How to Lower Temp At Speed?

I have a 85 Trans Am with a 350 in it. A new copper/brass 3 core radiator from Radiator Doctor. I have a cowl induction hood and the air dam is a little beat up. It only has about a 1/2 inch drop on it. My question is....

Is the combination of the airdam/cowl hood causing the car to go over 220 when Im going over 45 mph. Just cruising around town even in 100 degree heat it doesnt get over 210/215 But even at night about 75 degrees it goes over 220 looks like about 240 or so when i am going over 45mph. It never gets up to the red around 260 so I guess its not that big a deal. I would like to take care of it if I could.

I have already blocked all the holes around the hood latch area I read that would help, I didnt notice a difference. I also read that a airdam from a 91 caddy deville would work . Anyone have that part number and know if it is available from gmdealer or partsdirect.
Thx guys

I doubt the hood has anything to do with it.

Do you have that black plastic thing under your car that directs air up to the rad? If not, thats prolly why.

I think I have the airdam it doesnt go in front of the radiator but it kind of goes back from there (mounting screws are in front of the radiator) and then goes back and down but it doesnt drop more than 1/2 inch. It is all cut up looking on the bottom like it is worn down pretty good.

I will try to take a picture of it and get it up on here. I dont have a digital camera so it may be tomorrow before I get it.

I drove it last night on the highway the temp outside was about 76 and the car after only 4 miles at 55-60 mph was around 220 maybe a little above. After I slowed down to around 40 when I turned off the highway it went back down to around 200 which is where I would like it to be all the time. Ill let you guys look at the picture when I get it and tell me if I need a new air dam. Im thinking I probably do. I believe it is the original one and the suspension is sagging and the car drags on speedbumbs so its probably worn down.
