AC question?

I know this is probably the wrong forum, but I didn't know where to post this. I have an 85 IROC and I wanted to know what type of freon it originally used.

Thanks.

Yeah, switch your R-12 over to R-134 if you can. R-12 is sooooo damn expensive. Mine needs charging and it's still R-12, so eventually I'm just going to switch over. I hear it's not too hard of a process to do yourself.

If you can get 12 and you system doesn't leak just top it off with 12. The cost of a proper conversion to 134 will be MORE than what 12 will cost, plus you'll still get snow from the ducts as opposed to 134 which takes longer to get cold even in a vehicle designed for it. If you are down a pound you may be only talking $60 bucks or so for a fill.

u all may say im stupid or something, but hell, u dont need the kit to swith over to r134, its just a waist of money to tell u the truth, my uncle is a mechanic and has worked on a/c's his whole life, and he says that u dont even need the kit, so he done mine, without the kit, and its colder than my moms brand new s10, so u all take it fromt here, if u dont believe me, then try for yourself, and if u think im wrong, prove me wrong, if u can,

I really wouldn't want to prove you wrong if that's the case.

I'm not worried about the cost of R12. Where I'm going, I don't have to pay for it. Its not what you know, its who you know.

As long as you don't mind the drive. I'm about 30 miles south of DC.
