Coolant Crossover Passage

I have an 87 'Bird with the LG4. The fitting that connects the coolant crossover passage to the coolant hose broke. I've got it tapped right now and have a bolt in it, till I find another fitting.

What I want to know is, do I even need to bother with hooking it back up?

Yeah, I'll try to remember tonight.

There's a fitting on the back of the manifold, this used to have a hose that went to a t in the coolant line that goes from the thermostate to the heater core.

Here's where I was talking about. The yellow arrow points to where the fitting broke off.
