1986 electric fan wiring

I have a 1986 Z28 and the owner before me for some reason re-wired the fan. The coolant sensor has been bypassed and the positive wire for the fan has been wired directly into the fuse box and the negative just goes to the chassis. I was wondering how hard it would be to return it to the way it should be with it connected through the sensor again? Obviuosly I would have to make sure the sensors work of course.

Thoughts anyone??
