A few cooling questions with a 305

i have a 84 with a 305 and carbed, it has a stock non efan on it now, and i want to add a few hp, so my question's are is it ok to run one fan with this motor? i assume it is since soem cars came with one efan anyhow? also when i wire this up (which will be 2marrow) i need a power source that is always on when the key is turned on, where can i find a power source like this, without using the stero power? i think thats all my questions, thanks alot guy, this site rocks my socks.

I'm not framiliar with the 84's and the type of fuse block they have, but my car has some empty places on the fuse block where you can add whatever you want. I think some are always hot and some are hot when the ignition is on. if you have the empty spots, test them with the key on and the key off and see what you got.

I have the same configuration and I am thinking of doing the same thing except maybe to do it with dual fans. My car runs cool its just that an ac man said that to increase air conditioner efficiency that I should add an electric fan wired to the compressor. Is running 2 fans better or would one fan be sufficient?

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
There's a cavity (or maybe two) on the fuse block labelled IGN; this has power only when the key is in the RUN or START position, like you need. Use a relay to switch power to the fan, because it will draw in excess of 25 amps on startup.
I swapped an electric fan onto my 84 Z years ago, and ran fused power directly from the battery...plugged a 25A fuse into it which promptly blew the first time I hit the switch. I now use a 30A circuit breaker instead of a fuse with no problems.
