in the dark here.

hey guys i have an 83 Z with a late 70s 350 and as of right now i have the mechanical fan that runs off water pump. anyway from what i have been reading with the thirdgen that came with them they are setup to turn on depending one temp of engine and sensors and what not. is it possibel to get electric fans to run like stock on my old car lol?? is it hard? what would be involved??

or is there some other way i should do this?? maby a switch so i can turn them off and on depending on engine temp??

or since i want to go with a doul fan setup maby keep one on all the time and switch for second one and turn it on when needed?

a run down on this topic would help me out a great deal since i have not a clue about electric fans.

that my good sir is the way i do it, and many others. i personally think its the best but some people would rather have *MORE* sensors in their car cuz they're lazy..err i mean dont wanna flip a switch

Many aftermarket electric fans have a built in thermostat system, which can be set to the desired temp, and some come with a manual override switch.

The wonderfull part about this is that you can set the fan to go on at the temp you want by watching the temp gauge then turning the *** on the adjustment panel. its all self contained, and you just press the sensor into the fins in the radiator- no fancy wiring, no getting a sensor to fit a certain hole or nothing... realy easy!

I beleiev black magic is one that makes these types of fans... measure up and go shopping!

the aftermarket fans sounds amazing and prob the best way to go but i want to do this as cheap as possible, i just have so much things on the Z i need to get done before spring and are a bit more costly, so i need to budget it all out (u guys know what i mean lol). i was hopeing i could find a fan setup at the junk yards that will work in a thidgen. anyone know what care i should look for??

CbraKlr88>thanks for the info i am going to go with that setup (one on always/second when needed).
