running hot

the only way my car will run cool, is with the defroster on warm and the fan swith all the way on. I am confused. I appreciate any help you can give. Help before the summer and my heater cook me.

When is the last time the thermostat was replaced? Is the water pump functioning properly? Have you flushed the radiator recently? Is the antifreeze to water ratio right? Do you fans kick on when they are supposed to? These are just a few things you can check first.
