it's a ford all right, but they don't know why it did it. some think an over charge and/or for what ever reason over pressure caused it, others think it happened because of the drop in replacements that contain hydrocarbons ignited for some reason.
i could see over pressure taking out the condenser or the compressor, but not both at the same time.
there have been other vehicles that this has happened to, but they just don't say anything about it.

those pictures were taken by the ICBC Research facility in Burnaby

I don't see how it happend, my A/C has a pressure relif valve on the back of the compresser it relievs when the system reaches 3000psi (it relieves when I turn the a/c on and forget to turn on my 2 fans in front of my condenser)

Don't really see the alternative refrigerants being a cause unless they were stupid enough to use them (reasoning being that it looks like a factory R134a system?).. Somebody sure fragged it though.
