Year specific info for heater core in 91 Trans-Am

Hi Guys:

In the past, maybe 3-5 years ago, I got roped into paying $600 to get the heater core replaced in my 91 Trans-Am.

They, as you know, quote the book of eight hours to do the job.

I'm hearing a lot of feedback that a monkey can do this job in between 30 minutes and 2 hours tops.

Can someone tell me if all years are roughly equal in difficulty level and exactly what to remove in the 91 and how hard it is?

I read two things I remember so far.

One was that the 86 is supposedly much easier to do with easier access to the heater box than other years, and the other was that you can leave the dash bolted up in the 91 and just remove some of the passenger side air ducts and the passenger side speaker to gain access to a bolt (on the heater box?) that is hard to access on top of the heater box.

Can anyone give me some good **** directions that spare no detail? LOL

Thank You,

Lee Bernhang

It took me 30 minutes to do it on my '91 GTA... You got ripped..

All you have to take off is the bottom cover on the passenger side, pull the ECM down, and remove the dash pad. You can get at all of the bolts fairly easily.
