'91 serpentine into '84 water pump question
After being completely fed up with the v-belt setup in my '84 constantly eating and throwing belts, I've decided to retro fit my '91 serpentine setup into the '84. The only problem I can see is that the standard rotation pump on the '84 has a temp sensor and heater hose fitting on it. The '91 reverse rotation pump has neither. How can I make this work?

I've heard guys put a heater nipple in one cylinder head (longer hose). Use the other head's water opening (usually blocked with a pipe plug) for the computer's/water temp sender (obviously you either get one or the other in, not both). If you need more than that it's machine work time...
Something a little easier... shop around. I've seen many "so-called" CCW water pumps in the old casings with at least one heating fitting (Stewart, FlowKooler, and MANY $12 rebuilds at autostores).
Though Carcraft did say the impeller should match the case. My wife's LO3 has no fittings on her TRUE CCW pump. All of my supposed CCW pumps have the fitting (except one, it's smooth) but none work CCW.

I don't know what I was thinking when I looked at my pump before. There is no temp sensor on it. If I had the CCW impeller put on the '84 pump, would it work?

But if as you say there is no temp sensor on the 84 pump, I assume you mean there is still a heater fitting. I still think it's easier to buy some $12 rebuild from an auto store that has the heater fitting; it's all I seem to find when looking for pumps for my '92 LO3 serp setup.
Good luck getting the correct pump though. Make sure you run water and it comes out of the upper hose (disconnect it) at idle and more water when rev'ed. This assumes thermostat is open (hot enough) or removed. With the wrong impeller, you'll get hot real quick (no water from upper hose), no matter how fast you drive, trust me...

Yeah, it has the heater hose fitting, just not the temp sensor like I thought. This is the last piece of the puzzle I need to do this conversion.
