How to get an accurate temp reading!!!??

My mechanic told me that when my car is at two twenty on the guage, the real reading is one eighty, so what do i have to do or fix to make it accurate?????????

Mine reads about 160º on the gauge, but the scanner reads CTS as 180º.

I'd replace it. Just be sure to drain the coolant down before you take it out of the head.
IIRC, it is like a 13/16" or 21mm.

But be warned, these factory electrical gauges rarely ever read accurate.
