Need some help.

I have a problem here guys. I had my dual fan setup wired together with a fan switch to take care of my heating prob(most thirdgen owners know this by now). The problem is, I noticed today while at lunch, my car was heating up at the stoplights. So after work I brought it home, and sure enough, both fans are shot. Now the question. Most junkyards around here want a million bucks for the dual fan setup. Does anyone know where to pick this daul fan setup, new or used, at a decent price? Thanks in advance for any help.

How are they shot? Are they just not working, did the wiring burn through, fan blades shoot off , what? No matter what the problem is, you can probably buy new parts (fan blades, fan motors, etc.) for any auto parts store for much cheaper than the price of another dual fan set-up.

Shot as in I looked at every wire, and every fuse to make sure that I hadn't missed something. Shot as in they will not come on on matter what.

Maybe its the sensor on the thermostat housing instead that is shot. Try replacing that first or close the loop on the wires and see if the fans come on.

Jim.

I would check the toggle switch or whatever is supposed to turn the things on first. Usually from what I have seen, is that the switches blow, nothing else. Check that and if you don't have a relay......instal one. If that is not the problem I would double check by touching one wire to the positive side if the battery an ground the otheer and make sure the fan motors are blown. And last, I know that didn't answer your question but here is your answer......get the part number from the dealer and price it throught Gmpartsdirect.com., it should be much cheaper than the dealer.

Indeed, that is what I'm about to do. I find it awfully strange that BOTH fans would burn up at the same time. Thanks for the replies guys. Much appreciated.

If the sensor is bad the car would never go into closed loop. Try turning on the AC (if equiped) a fan should come on. If not check that the relays for the fans are clicking on. If not, turn on the ignition (do not start). Ground the relay inputs and listen for them to click on. If you here or feel them click and the fan/s do not come on, check for blown fuses. If the fuses are OK try jumpering 12 volts to the fans and see if they run. If relays click on and no fuses are blown but fans come on with 12 volt jumper, relays are bad.
