Aluminum Rad W/built in TC cooler OPINIONS!!

What do you guys think about this radiator...im highly considering buying it over the griffin 31X19 bc it seems to be more appropriate on the dimensions and looks like it has all of the proper connections of my current radiator (which is leaking unfort)

anyways in the description notice it says it has a 7 plate heavy duty trans oil cooler and i asked them if why it wasnt in the pics and made sure it came with the rad and they said that it is "the cooler is in this radiator, it is in the rh tank, you can see the fittings in the picture"

is there any advant or disadv to this...??would it be better to go with the griffin and a B&M trans cooler and maybe save 20 bucks total?? Please give me your opinions soon i need to buy quick!

HERE IS THE RADIATOR

I bought a tranny cooler from summit for 40 bux, the griffin is going to cost me 198+\-

The wont be much difference, except the theory that the tranny/coolant may reach operating temp faster in the combined system...

Somebody else might have a better insight though.

It really depends on where you live as to what's better. I call the stock in rad. type trans coolers "trans heaters"

The engine can live at 200*, 220*, even 230*, an auto trans can't. You never want to see temps higher than 190*, best would be between 170* and 180*.

If you live where it's real cold for a long time, then the in rad cooler will help to get trans up to temp faster (seeing as how the engines water temp will climb faster than the trans temp), with the hotter water running next to the "heater" it will heat the trans fluid up to close to what the water temp in the rad. is.

For warmer places, and or heavier/harder use, a good stack plate (B&M super cooler) type trans cooler, mounted on grill side of rad will keep the trans cooler than the rad. water temp, and that will keep your trans alive longer.

#1 killer of stock auto transmissions in stock cars is heat.. That's a fact.. look it up.

Now think about it. Why is heat killing stock car auto transmission.... Hmmm could it be cause of the in rad. trans heater *cough I mean cooler cough*

For alittle more money savings look at the "summit" brand 31" x 19" rad. It's a very nice one. Made by northern rad. It will run you $180, then a $50 trans cooler. Total of $239 with handling fee.

The summit (northern) rad. is every bit as good as the griffin, just don't have the pretty lion or tigger or what ever it is on it
