v belt to serpentine switch

I am trying to take a serpentine belt system from an 89 formula firebird and install it on an 84 TA. All the brackets fit except I need to drill a hole for one mount point. However the problem I have is that the water pumps turn in different directions. Does this mean that the water pumps the opposite direction also and if so will it create a problem.

Yes it will. You need the water pump from the 89. I did basically the exact same thing to my 87. If you don't have the right water pump, your car will overheat quick.
