92 305 tpi dual fans

The one fan is wired up to run all the time. I put i new stat in it which i beleive is a 160. Stop in go traffic it will heat up til it hits almost red on the gauge but won't go no higher. Its been flushed and eveything twice. I notice the passenger side fan does not cut on ever so i dunno. Think maybe a radiator might be the prob?

Could be your gage. I fought with my '92 for months before I replace the gage. I thought it was over heating also, replaced everything but nothing helped. Finally I replaced the gage and gage sensor with a Mechanical Autometer, and it was reading 190 to 205, even in the Texas Summer Heat.

if your fans were working the way they were designed to, you wouldn't need one wired to stay on at all times. don't know why it's wired that way, but... if the switch in the pass head is good, the fan should come on before it gets too hot. with that said, i'd still replace the fan switch in the head with one of a cooler temp. have you checked the wiring and such for the fans themselves? are your relays good? i would run a direct wire (for troubleshooting) right to the fan motor(s) and verify those first. make sure the fans are good. then check your wiring and fuses. if this fan is wired direct, was the right size wire used? could be a couple of different things with that situation, but with dual fans and even a stock thermostat, it should work as advertised. mine does.
