can you put a flex fan on an engine that has an electric fan...

hey guys i own an 86 iroc z it has a 5.0 tpi engine and before the deer i hit it had a working electric fan..... well i have been driving it through the winter to get to work with out a fan on it and now that the weather is getting warmer.... it is getting way to hot to be able to drive any more with out a fan..... id liek to put a flex fan on it if possible but wasnt sure if i was able to put one on it like you would see on an older v 8...

If you have a V-belt setup, you could remove the electric fan and shroud, and install a mechanical fan and shroud. A stock type clutch-fan would be a better choice than a flex fan though.

im running a flex fan with a 1" spacer. stock shroud. no problems yet. my motor has v belts. easy change and alot less money than new electric fan.
