Issue with my car was/is the relay and the fan motor. Once I found the unholy spot that Chevy put the temp sensor switch on the pass. side, I confirmed that the relay was the issue as I could not get the fan to run by shorting the connector to ground, also the fan would come on with the AC on but not if the AC was off. I bought the relay as it was the cheapest option. Once I replaced it, I had the voltage at the fan motor finaly but I then discovered I had to push the fan by hand to get it to spin. It would run until the temp came down then shut off. So I am now looking at replacing the fan motor. Mind you I have a V6 so im not sure how much is simialr but hopefully this helps.

There is a fan switch on the p/s of the motor between the last two sparkplugs. With the key turned on, but don't start the engine, remove that wire and touch it to ground. If the fan doesn't come on that switch maybe bad. Also check the fan relay on the firewall d/s. Does the fan work when the A/C is turned on?
