alu pipe covers good idea? or just for show?

ive been look a buyin some of those fancy alu sleves for the rad pipes ect, do these make any difference or these just for show??

Well their meant to be just for looks...but when you think about it they could protect your hoses. Lets say your belt frays and hits the hose or something the sleeve would probably protect it from gouging into the hose. Other then that though...it's just for looks.
