Hey what do you guys think of this dual fan?
I'd like to get better cooling in the summer out here in the desert. I was thinking of an aluminum radiator and this dual fan.

4,000 cfm and universal fit. The universal fit has me a bit skeptical.

Universal fit means it's not made to fit anything in particular, not that it will fit anything. From the picture, it looks like it's supposed to mount to the radiator using the plastic screws pushed through the radiator. You might want to find a better way to mount yours.

The stock setup is the way to go. Score one out of the junkyard, parts for sale section, or ebay. Very easy to wire up, and guaranteed to fit. You can wire it up so both fans come on at the same time. DO NOT use the fan mounting zip tie rig job as shown in your pix. Been there, done that. Takes very little time before you're pulling the radiator to get the holes it will wear in it fixed.

I bought a Spal dual fan that will suck the paint off the front
bumper....
I made an 1/8" aluminum frame for it, welded aluminum nuts
to it, blue loctited studs in the nuts, polished the frame and
bolted it to the radiator with stainless steel ny-locks and
stainless washers, with a cushion between the fan and shroud
made of 1/8 thick rubber spacers. I then made a little bracket
to hold 2 40amp Bosch 5-pin relays, and it bolts into the hole
meant for transmission cooler lines (mines a 5-speed), using
a 1/2" fine stainless socket head.
I used a Hypertech 170 degree fan switch, and both fans run
are triggered by it. I also used a Mr. Gasket fail-safe hi-flow
160 degree thermostat and Red Line Water Wetter.
The car now runs right at 160 with the a/c on in traffic in Arizona
in the summertime.
All this on a brand new o.e. sized radiator!

My fan assembly looks very similar to yours-but whatever you
do, don't use those zip-tie fasterners through the radiator.

Hey I know for a fact that fan in the pic will not fit w/o major mods. I tried to install one on my sister's 84 and it's about 2" too wide. One side hits the steering box, and the other hits the lower hose and cooler lines for the trans. Which is too bad because it looks like a really nice piece.

About the subject of dual fans
My '83 has the fan on the water pump. In an effort to improve summer cooling, I had mounted twin pancakes on the front of the A.C. condenser. Guess what?????????? They caused the car to run hotter, because the electric fans compete in some way with either the air flow from the stock fan, or with the 2-speed fan clutch. Took them off. What gives?
