Backfire and Black smoke what do I do?
Hey guys, I recently purchased a 85 Camaro Iroc-z, I changed the injectors, timed the car, checked if I had spark, and changed the spark plugs. All those things passed as I checked and replaced them. I finally started the car and at idle the car would backfire. Mind you I timed my car to where it was supposed to be so nobody ask "Did you time the car?" Also, as car is in idle a lot of black smoke was pouring out of back pipes, as time went by it was not as bad but car still smoked. If you guys could help me out with answering my question of why these things are happening that'd be great.

I'm no pro by any means but it sounds like your idling way too rich, have you checked the tps and reset the iac? Your idle could be set for your old, potentially weak/clogged injectors so when your new injectors started firing, they were dumping way more fuel than your idle air was set to handle..just a thought.. You never know what previous owners put bandaids on.

Well everybody I did some research and found that my coolant temperature sensor was no good and was putting way to much gas into my engine, there still is a tiny misfire and a tiny bit of smoke but only happens when I rev the engine, if you guys have any ideas of how to fix that permanently give me a shout, other than that thanks for the help!

try to get it to shudder/misfire, and shut it down right away, (so that it doesn't clear up the plug), then pull plugs and see if one is booger-ed up. May tell you something or not. Your positive you have the correct plugs/gap?
All the injectors firing?

Yea there all firing, and the timing was off a little so the smoke is gone, and there is a tiny misfire but it seemed to go away after the timing was changed. Thanks for the help!
