ok I need help quick because I"m supposed to leave for texas tomorrow and I just got the engine to turn on not too long ago and I"m trying to break it in and I just got done fixing most of the leaks like an oil leak. but now I have a big problem. There is coolant coming out of everywhere, the heater hoses the lower and upper radiator hoses. I replaced the lower one and tightened all of them but I just don't get it, they all leak. I have a hi volume water pump and an aluminum radiator. the radiator is a few years old but the water pump is new. I bought it like a year ago but now I'm using it. I don't know what to do and now it seems like the power steering pump might be leaking too because the steering wheel has problems turning.

 

Upper hose: clamp the radiator side tight (not TOO tight, you don't want to break the radiator or something crazy). On the black side, check if it's leaking from the hose or from the gasket. If it's the hose, tighten the clamp. If it's the gasket, replace it (and t-stat if it's original). If the clamps don't stop the leaking, get a new hose.

Lower hose: again, is this from the block or the rad? Same procedure, find out if it's leaking from the hose or just beyond it. It's possible the end tank cracked on your radiator if it's original.

Let us know what you find. Be specific about where the leaks are coming from.

 

it seems that one of the hoses, the lower radiator hose, leaks from the connection to the water pump, not the radiator side. no matter how much I tighten it, water seems to come out from that area. the upper radiator hose may also be leaking from the thermostat housing. again ... no matter how much I tighten it it seems to leak but not as much... just a few drops every few minutes, there I don't know if it's from the t-stat or the hose.

 

screw it!! it was the water pump. thanks anyway guys
