weird coolant problem

im not sure how this happened, but yesterday, a friend and i filled my resivor with properly deluted anti-freeze, and drove to his house, about 20 minutes away, upon arriving, we checked the coolant level (i reciently had to replace the water pump because of other coolant problems) and found the resivor empty, thinking that it was just taken into the block or radiator, i drove back home, only to find when i get there, a puddle of anti-freeze on my floor mat on the passanger side. Has anyone had this problem or something like it? And does anyone have an idea as to what happened and why?

Your heater core is bad. Time for a replacement. They tend to rust over time, and our cars are no longer young. The heater core is in the firewall in front of the passenger seat.

Be sure to drain whatever coolant is left, or the rest will end up in that puddle of yours.

Yes, I bought a couple hose elbows to do just that while I make time to replace my heater core. In the engine bay you'll see the two heater hoses going into the firewall. Undo the clamps, disconnect the hoses, and bridge them together with the elbow. Done.
