quick question

quick question

what does the diffrent temp. thermo. do. 9i have a 195 in mine i belive. i live in georgia and it is on average about 75 to 80 degrees. should i run a lower thermo. like 160 or 180 and what diffrence will it make

these engines are designed to run hot. Running them hotter means running them cleaner as the hotter the engines (within limits, of course) means less emissions outputs. All a lower thermostat will do is circulate the coolant at a lower temperature - aka run a little bit cooler. 180 is fine, personally i wouldnt venture much lower.

Anything lower than ~180* will probably make things worse unless you start reprogramming PROMS for the ECM.

I run a 180 in mine. Runs fine, passes smog. IMO the engine will last longer if you run it a bit cooler, but not too cool.
