Two new radiator caps leak. Why?

My radiator cap seal is not sealing against the radiator properly. When I squeeze the lower radiator hose I can see air and coolant going into the overflow bottle. I've tried TWO brand new 16lb caps from two differnt auto parts stores. Neither one seals at all.

What is going on here? Is it not supposed to seal when the engine is cold?

it should seal at all times, hot or cold.

down inside of the neck where the radiator cap goes there is a place where the bottom seal of the cap seats, look very closely at it, there should be a small ridge that runs around it. if there are any places on the ridge part that are not smooth & even, thats your problem.
