1989 coolant issue

K well my season ended lastyear with stuff breaking and some questions I just can't figure out.

First off , it's a nice newly rebuilt engine with under 1000 km's on it . It runs great and needs some tuning but I can get to that later. What I am kinda pissed at is okay my heater core is all plugged up ( for whatever reason) . K fine , we by passed it . But I was on a chassis dyno and what happened was this . The top rad hose would suck it self shut .completely collapse. Then the bottom hose kinda did the same thing , but after going up in the revs the tops hose kinda bucked and let off some pressure but was still sucking itself in.

Well i figured there was some air in the system so I tried this . left the rad cap off and started it . Well as she finally warmed up it just started flowing collant right out the top of the rad ....and over the fender ( I mean it was like a fountain) . K now I am super pissed and really stumped. Also this car runs fairly hot ( 220 ish on the highway ) . So we tried a 160 thermostat. Nothing , same temps . So we just took out the T-stat ( I know , bad idea ) . Now it runs cooler but I didn't get to check the hoses.

I bought the water pump new from Partsource , there is a chance I got the wrong water pump ( reverse flowing vs normal ) <---- not sure which I need. Or how to check which way the pump flows . Also there is a small chance this block was from a 1987 ( is it roller) I heard the '87 blocks required a different fuel pump . The pump on there is one ment for a 1989 .

...SO could the pump be doing all this ? I tried to have it flushed and filled and thats when I heard about the heater core being clogged, so they just put my old stuff back in and didn't charge me for it .

Sorry so long , but any input is greatly appreciated.

Regular v-belts take a standard rotation pump, serp. belt takes a reverse rotation one. Which setup do you have?

I am runnnig the 1989 serp setup . But I got the blcok off of a guy and I am not sure if it was a 1987 .

SO regardless of year it only matters if you have a serp set up or v belt ? So doesn't matter what the block , the serp setup just runs it backwards ?
