Primary Fan not working

Recently my car started to overheat(in the red) and i pulled over. I noticed that my driver side fan ( i think this the primary fan) was not on. the passenger side fan was on only becuz i had to turn on the heater to let the car vent some of the heat. I checked the wiring on the fans and the wires are in good shape. I am thinking it is the motor for that fan becuz the passenger side runs fine. is there a way to check and can i buy the motor from a local parts store.

Yes. Find the fan relay on the firewall, should be the relay closest to the divers door. Find the green and white wire, which is the ground wire for the relay. Ground this wire. This should close the relay and force the fan to come on. If the relay isn't working, replace. IF the relay works, and the fan doesnt come on, trace the wires from there. hope this helps

I belive that your primary fan turns on by the switch thats mounted in the pass side head. This switch may have failed... Locate your fan relay, there should be a green wire with a white line through it, T into it and ground it to the chasis. If the fan turns on than you know what the problem is (the switch). If the fan does not start up then you need to replace the motor.
This green wire thing is on one fan set up, but I believe the relays are the same.
Good luck, and if you can post the pic of the relay for me, so I can see if I am talking right.

Laters.
