My temp gauge has been reading 'cold' the last couple weeks. I replaced the thermostat, and it's still happening. I ran a scan and came up with no codes. Is this definately the coolant temp sensor? Or could it be something else? Thanks.

 

Did you check the correct one? The sending unit that gives the gauges there reading is on the drivers side just under the 3/5 exhaust manifold or there close. You cant miss it....let car cool and put you hand down under there and make sure it is connected. IF not replug it in and you'll be good to go.

 

Oh I didn't know about that one. What is the sensor called? And why did it not set off the SES light? Thanks

 

You have two temp sensors on your car,the CTS(Coolant Temperature Sensor,sends info to the computer) that sits on the intake right beside the thermostat housing.This one may or may not give a SES light when bad.
The other one,in the drivers side head,is for the gauge and has nothing to do with the computer.

 

Do you have a diagram of the location? I can't seem to find it in my manual. Just the coolant temp sensor. Thanks again.

 

The coolant temp sensor (CTS) is for the computer and has yellow and black colored wires. The temp sending unit (TSU) is the one screwed into the head and has a single dark green wire plugged into it.
