still no vacuum to heater control vavle
Still can't figure out why the valve doesnt get vacuum. I did noticed today that if the setting is put on heater, that nothing comes out of the vents...but comes out from under neither the dash (by the aldl connector..that area) I also do realize that if i have the a/c on (which works fine) and i turn off all the controls...you can hear it hiss quite loudly. Is my head unit f'd? or is there something else i should be looking for?

i also noticed today when i started the car up that there was hissing coming from the controls. So there is deff a leak. I pulled it apart and when the motor was shut off, i changed the controls from <max>norm>bi level etc> and you could hear it hiss with every change but when i went to put it on heater, the hiss was lower and not as loud as the rest?? Also the air when i put it on heater only comes from the lower vents, it won't come through the upper vents

and one more thing i did notice..the little dial that spins as your change it from max>norm etc.. it seems to be coming loose when i change the settings, the wheel center "bolt" comes out and the wheel begins to turn like a warped rotor would...all wavey. Could this cause my problem?

Re: still no vacuum to heater control vavle
Disconnect the vaccum line at the heatcontrol valve, place in on your tongue (yes I know it's yucky, but you want heat right?), have someone start the car and place the heater control level from cool to heat, and the other lever from off to Heater. you should feel some kind of suction on your tongue. If you don't, check for a break in the line you're holding. After you find the break, go to the auto parts store and get a piece of hose to insert it into the line. You will need a piece of the hard plastic line to insert back into the control vavle. This fix should fix your leak, IF that's what your problem was.
