Should pass. side fan run with the key off?

After driving my car today (93 degrees outside 100 degree heat index) and running the A/C, when i shut it off the pass side fan kept running. This was with the key out of the ignition. I waited about 10 min. and the fan was still running. After sitting the temp guage was very high. I started the car and the temp guage dropped as the coolant flowed (ran car afor about 20 seconds). When i shut the car off the fan stopped. I have a Hypertech low temp switch in the pass. head. Does anyone know if it is normal for the fan to run after the car is shut off? I know on my wife's Grand Am the fan will run with the engine off. This is the first time that this has ever done this. I didn't think that the fans would run without the key being on. This is a Dual Fan TPI set-up. Replies greatly appreciated.

That makes me wonder whether or not the a/c high pressure switch is independent of the ignition switch...

I had the same problem, it ended being a bad fan relay.
