electric fans
how many of you guys have had problems with your electric fans? mine sometime steals power away from the iginition system. i replaced fans with another used fan my stepfather had laying around from his 84. problem isnt as bad but still acts up occasionally. when i does act up (only with fan running) car will sputter, hesitate, just run very poorly. turn fan off and car will run great again with no problem of missfire. i disconnected the fan switch (block switch) so i have more control of the fan. i disconnected the A/C clutch wire so it wont engage, that way i can turn the fan on my turning the climate control to a/c in order to run the fan. i have less problems than i did with my original fan but it still exists. is this a wirring problem or do i have two bad fan motors. how do i fix/diagnose this. its getting on my nerves. im sick of such a simple problem causing me such headaches. are these fans noted for failures? how do i make sure that the fan is bad before i go out and spend money on a motor? i spent alot of money on parts already, i didnt know at first that the fan was causing the problem. it would be the last thing i would suspect. what happens to these motors when they fail? do they seize up? get noisy? or cause the problem that i am having? i dont have any problem with replacing the motor if that is the problem, but i need to make sure. before i discovered that it was dirrectly related to the fan, i replaced the EGR, fuel pressure regulator, igintion coil, i removed and had the module tested. any thoughts?
