Hypertech Fan Switch Tip
Hypertech Fan Switch Tip
I just thought I'd let the rest of you guys in on this one. I put the Hypertech fan switch in my 89 RS that turns the fan on @ 200 degrees, off @ 186 degrees. Make sure to use a 180 degree thermostat or lower. I tried it with the 195 stat, and the fan will run continuously because the thermostat keeps the water temp too high for the lower temp switch. Works great with a 180 though.
I bought it from PAW about 4 or 5 years ago. It's Hypertech part#4028. It turns the fan on at 200 degrees and off at 186 degrees. If your car has dual fans, it's a little more complicated to rig them so they both function earlier. I was browsing this forum the other day and there's another post from a member where he found the same switch at Mid America Corvette Parts that sells for a lot cheaper. It's only $14.99 from them, part#609-109. The Hypertech switch runs about $45. Whether you have a single fan system or dual, I highly recommend you read Willie's articles on the best way to set up custom fan controls. Hayden makes an adjustable switch that's a lot better than the one I'm using. I just decided to use the one I got for now since it was already bought and paid for. To read Willie's articles on single and dual fan mods, go to the tech articles section on the main page and you'll find them. Really good articles. They explain everything about the fans in a way that's easy to understand.
