Oil Cooler

I was thinking about adding an oil cooler to my car. Is this necessary? What are the pros and cons to having one. This car is a weekend warrior that will not see any time at the track.

Thanks!

I installed one about three years ago. No real difference except maybe longer engine life. I will slow down warm-up in real cold conditions, and may actually cool the oil too much, but there are little valves designed to prevent this. Be sure to get one.

Putting the oil rad in front of the engine rad also reduced my ability to cool my engine. At highway speed, I noticed a slight rise in operating temp. Kinda strange, but that is something to look out for.
