Awesome!! Cooling fan switch for 85 trans am!

as posted by willie.

i did a bunch of research during the winter tryin' to find a cooling fan switch for my single fan 85 t/a. turns out that the ECM controls when the fan kicks on. the only chip i found for the car was by hypertech. it kicked on at 176* too cold!! i did willie mod (link above) minus the switches on the inside. the car is running great. never gets hotter than 220*. and you can adjust it.

keep in mind i'm pretty green when it come to car wiring. i had my shop tech do it. best $200 i've spent on the car to date. (that's with parts)

thanks for everybodys' help!! summer is around the corner and i'll let you know how it does. i hope this can help someone else. good luck!

so far so good!!! L.A. was crazy hot this week. the hottest it got was 230 degrees when stuck in traffic in 110 degree heat!! it stays around 190 most of the time.

230 is really too hot, I would have been happier with the 176 turn on temp

230* was the hottest i have ever seen it!! we are talkin dead stop in traffic on the highway in 110* heat. i didn't want the performance chip due because it kicks on way to early. the cars thermostat doesn't open till 185*ish and i didn't want to start messing with the proms. i'm just trying to keep this car running well. it's no dragster!

btw, you can adjust the fan setting any where from 160* to 220* with the turn of a screw driver.
