Flex fan or keep clutch fan?
Hey guys,
I've been running into alot of mixed opinions on this so I'm starting a new, clean thread about it.
I've got an '82 TA that I replaced the 305 with a 350 carb. I currently have a clutch fan with the stock clutch still on it (not the severe duty one). I've been dealing with some overheating issues lately & want to know what is a better fan set-up for this size motor (5.7L)? Should I keep the clutch fan & just put a "beefier" fan clutch on it or eliminate the clutch & put on an aluminum flex fan with a spacer?
I know the overheating might be due to other "things" & completely understand how both fans operate, but I just want to stay on the subject of fans for now & get your opinion on this one, single subject?

Re: Flex fan or keep clutch fan?
1 thing that had me wondering, From what i have heard flex fans blades flaten out at high RPM to reduce load on the engine BUT wouldent this make a kind of solid disk preventing air from passing through at high speeds making it run hotter?

Makes sense! I'm going to try just getting a better clutch for the fan & see what happens. If it's still running too hot, I'll try the flex.
