A/C question
A/C question
here's the deal, I've got an 88 firebird tbi 305.
I need to know the location of the orifice tube or expansion valve.
when i bought the car they had just rebuilt the compressor so there's no freon in the system, but I'm not sure if they converted it from r-12 to r-134a, so i don't know what is on it, orifice tube or expansion valve.
it's 102 in TEXAS and i need A/C, any help is grateful. thanks.

Re: A/C question
"Most GM's put the orfice tube in the output side of the condenser, near the bottom. Locate the fitting that runs from the condenser to the firewall, open that fitting and the orfice tube should be inside." by redbeard from WikiAnswers
Bottom A/C line from condensor going to the evaporator.
Check out this post on how an A/C works:

Make sure you vacuum out the A/C with a vacuum pump before you charge it. Pull a vacuum for at least 45 minutes and make sure that it will hold. You can probably rent a vacuum pump from AZ and some manifold gauges.
If you dont do this step, the thing will never cool properly here in Texas.
