Re: Oil in coolant

Chanced are blown head gasket or warped head or both
Check your compression
IF one or more cylinders are low pull the head have a machinst check it out (mambe even port the valves while it's off????) and replace gasket.

Re: Oil in coolant

i had a test done on it, there was some gasket that was making the oil drip in there. but the real problem was my thermostat was shot, it was stuck closed, not allowing coolant into the engine

TSCaboose, you may want to check out the archives in cooling. There are a lot of good ways to keep your car running cool from people who know F-Bodies.

Re: Oil in coolant

Whereas i admit i am new to the f-bodies heck Gm period. No matter what brand motor is i've noticed if oil in coolant or vice versa they tend to be similar problems. Has for the thermostat shot it could have resulted in to much pressure on the gasket causing a leak (or drip). outta curoisity what gasket was it?

Re: Oil in coolant

uhm it was the gasket around the thermostat, to be honest, i dont even know if there was oil in the coolant in to first place. i could have just been dirty or something, i drained it and put some new coolant in and it still looks fine.
