Locating fan switch wire

I was about to change the secondary fan switch in the pass. head and I noticed the wire (Green/white?) leading to the sensor is burned off and I don’t see the burned end anywhere. Does anyone know which part of the harness this wire is in and the location of the fan switch relay so I can trace it back?

On my 89 Iroc 5.7 the fan relay is just to the left of the radiator (passenger side) if you are facing the front of the car. Click on the link below to see what it looks like. It plugs into the electrical connector.

Re: Locating fan switch wire

I had the same problem Chet, look direcly below your fan switch you will find a wire way (the black insulater that gm run the harness thru). There is a clip that holds it in place between #2&4 cylinders (mine is mounted to the engine block) unclip it with a flat head screwdriver then you should be able to pull the wires up some and open the wire way the fan switch wire runs toward the front of the car. I have a 305 car with headers so i was able to see all this a little better than if you if your car still has the original maifolds on it. Hopefully this has helped some as for the relay per my chilton manual for 82-92 v8 cars the relay should be on the driver side mounted on the firewall with the fuel pump relay which are identical. But different years and cars it could be near the radiator like Frank said, hard to say on that one.
